Matala Beach Festival 2025

What is certain is that the Matala Beach Festival will once again take place on the first weekend in July, from 4 to 6 July.

But not much more.

As every year, we can hope that Neil Young or The Cure (or at least their cover bands) will finally perform. However, this year’s programme will probably only be announced at very short notice.

History

So let’s pass the time with a little history: the Matala Beach Festival draws a little on the history and importance of Matala as a place of pilgrimage for hippies in the 1960s and 70s. This also explains the part of the programme that will hopefully also consist of cover bands from the greats of the time this year. Most recently, for example, ABBA, The Beatles, AC/DC and The Doors were represented.

The other part of the programme consists of Greek talents and stars, which also attracts the local and especially the younger Greek audience.

Together

This mixture, and of course the incredible ambience of the large stage right on the beach and the many smaller performances in the alleyways and squares of Matala, make the whole thing simply unique.

In recent years, well over 100,000 people have been guests here, with the traffic jam stretching as far back as Pitisidia. That sounds depressing, but don’t let it put you off: The Matala Beach Festival is a marvellous, unique, big get-together of all nationalities, all ages and all music genres.

And for free. And outdoors. And the weather is supposed to be good too.
