How do you open a beach?

While Matala beach has been buzzing with life for weeks, Komos Beach has so far kept things quiet. That is changing these days.

Bunga Bunga, which is located right next to the cliff, has been offering cold drinks, snacks and the well-known peachy atmosphere for a few days already. And now the two sisters at Komos Bar have also completed preparations for their wonderful terrace and opened for the season. You can’t get a better sunset than on this terrace.

However, sunbeds and parasols are still a long way off, and this is likely to remain the case for a while yet. The explanations for this range from nature conservation and turtle protection to the neighbouring excavation sites – we didn’t understand them.

But that doesn’t matter, because Komos Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Crete, even without sunbeds, but with a breathtaking approach, a sandy pebble beach, at minimum one shower, two wonderful beach bars and an incomparably peaceful atmosphere.
